Summer memories from Vrångö

When summer finally arrives, time seems to do two opposite things at once. Some days stretch on forever, while others disappear in the blink of an eye.

Perhaps that’s why summer is the most nostalgic season of all. Who doesn’t like to think that the summers of their childhood were the very best?

Back then, life was wonderfully simple. Long before smartphones and AI, a perfect summer day meant cycling along quiet gravel roads, swimming in water that was probably a little too cold, squeezing into a life jacket that might have been one size too small, and heading out onto a weathered wooden jetty to catch crabs.

It smelled of warm grass and salty sea air. Homemade lemonade was served in the shade of the garden, alongside freshly baked biscuits or cakes made by a beloved grandparent or family friend.

Maybe memories really do become sweeter with time. Maybe nostalgia smooths away the rough edges and leaves only the best moments behind.

But one thing we do know.
