Kajkanten is a small, friendly workplace on Vrångö in the southern archipelago of Gothenburg. We are a small apartment hotel where everyone knows each other. We care about our guests, the environment and making sure that you enjoy working with us too.
We are looking for someone who would like to work with us throughout the year. Some periods are busier than others, with more shifts available at certain times of the year. Working with us is easy to combine with other commitments, and we hope to find someone who enjoys archipelago life, likes meeting people and wants to be part of a small team where everyone helps each other.
If you apply for this position, you enjoy having lots of things going on. One moment you might be making up a bed in one of our boathouses, the next you could be welcoming guests, helping with a conference or answering a simple question on the phone.
Cleaning our boathouses and relax raft is an important part of the job. We want our guests to be welcomed by accommodation that is clean, tidy and inviting when they arrive.
You will help welcome our guests, answer questions and take care of both small and larger practical things that may come up during their stay.
For the right person, there may also be an opportunity to help with simple bookings, phone calls and emails when needed.
The work is mainly connected to guest arrivals and departures, so the number of shifts can vary from week to week throughout the year. We have a greater need for staff during weekends and holidays, and especially during the summer. The work is usually during the daytime, although some shifts may also take place in the evening. We do our best to find working hours that suit both the business and you.
In addition to our recurring staffing needs, there may be an opportunity for more regular work for the right person.
No previous hotel experience is required – for us, the right person and the right attitude are what matter most!
You are:
• service-minded and enjoy meeting and helping people
• good at seeing the bigger picture, prioritising and keeping things organised
• independent, flexible and comfortable taking initiative
• solution-oriented and not afraid to get stuck in, whether the task involves practical work or simple administration
As Kajkanten is located on Vrångö, you need to be able to get to and from work easily. We would ideally like you to live on one of the islands or have a commute that works well with our working hours.
