There’s something truly special about Vrångö in October.

The air feels crisper, the sea grows darker, and the sky turns more dramatic. The light dances across the cliffs in that rare way it does when the sun sits low – as if the island is wrapping itself in a soft, golden blanket before winter’s rest.

After the buzz of summer and the hum of boat engines, calm returns. The coastal paths are quiet, save for the occasional walker in a wool sweater and cap, or someone pausing to collect seaweed, shells – or just a deep breath. The scent of salt, damp granite, and coffee from a thermos fills the air – the kind of scent that slows time and turns the simplest moments into something golden.

Down by the quay, fishing boats rest after lobster season, and warm light glows from the windows as evening falls. The sauna on the floating raft steams gently, and sometimes the moon reflects perfectly in the still harbor water.
October on Vrångö isn’t loud or demanding – it’s quiet, salt-tinged, and full of small, simple miracles.

It’s a month made for backlit walks, slow dinners, and shared laughter. A time just to be, without doing.
And perhaps that’s exactly why Vrångö is at its most beautiful in October.
