Midsummer celebration on Vrångö

Celebrate Midsummer by the sea

Welcome to celebrate Midsummer on Vrångö!
If you book a Midsummer stay with us, you’ll arrive on Thursday, June 19th— the day before Midsummer’s Eve— and stay until Sunday, June 22nd. You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the festive celebrations while also soaking up the early summer days with swimming and hiking in the stunning landscape. The harbor restaurants, Lotsen and Ternan, will be open, so take a stroll around the island and embrace the laid-back summer vibe.
On Midsummer’s Eve, the festivities take place just outside Kajkanten, with dancing, lotteries, coffee sales, and live music— all arranged by Vrångö Fritidsförening and the local community. The guest harbor usually fills up days in advance, and on the big day, flags and bunting can be seen everywhere.

You arrive on Thursday, June 19

The Midsummer weekend is a popular time to travel to Vrångö, as many people take the archipelago ferries to join the celebrations. If you’ve booked your Midsummer stay with us, you’ll arrive already on Thursday evening, when it’s still calm and peaceful.
To get to Vrångö, take tram 11 or bus 114 to Saltholmen, located just outside central Gothenburg. Both the tram and bus run regularly from the city center to the ferry terminal at Saltholmen, where you transfer to a ferry.

Ferries depart almost every hour, and the boat ride to Vrångö takes about 30 minutes. Your public transport ticket is also valid for the archipelago boat. To plan your trip, you can use the Västtrafik To Go app or journey planner.

If you prefer to arrive by car, there is long-term parking available at Långedrag, about a 15-minute walk from the ferry terminal.
Smart tip: Unload your luggage and passengers at the terminal first, then drive back to park. You can either walk back or take tram 11 to return to the ferry terminal.
