Hiking paths on Vrångö

8 km of hiking trails trough the Vrångö archipelago nature reserve

If you want to enjoy Vrångö’s beautiful nature, a hike on the island’s easily accessible trails is recommended. The feeling of freedom that comes when you face the wonderful view on the heights is magical. If you continue down the slopes, the landscape changes drastically and takes you into the silence of the forest.

THE SOUTHERN TRAIL
The trail starts where the ferry docks in Mittvik. Follow the path past the Ternan restaurant along the sea. The path takes you to beautiful Nötholmen, which is also a popular beach in the summer. After the beach, the road goes into the forest and up the mountain and offers a magnificent view of, among other things, Kungsö and Tistlarna. Here you also pass Bronze Age cairns and places that bear witness to early settlements. The trail is about 2.5 km.

TÄRNSTIGEN Tärnstigen, which is about 2 km, is an easier hiking trail where it is easy to get around with wheelchairs and prams. The easiest way to start your hike is near Kajkanten, on the other side of the bay, only 100 meters from the hotel. Look out for the little red boathouses and follow the path along the sea.

THE NORTHERN TRAIL The northern trail, which is about 4 km, connects from Tärnstigen and takes you, just as the name suggests, to the northern part of the island through the Vrångös archipelago nature reserve. In addition to passing several nice bathing bays on the eastern side of the island, you will also come across rare plant species and birds. At the end of the trail, you pass Vrångö’s old cemetery from the 17th century.

If you still have a spring in your step, dare to leave the walking paths and go out on the rocks instead.
