Hiking Day on September 13

Seaweed walk along the shoreline & discovery tour on Tistlarna

Hiking Day is an initiative started by the Swedish Tourist Association. Hiking is one of the most accessible, healthy, and wonderful activities you can do! With Hiking Day, we want to encourage you to explore your local area and treat yourself to a refreshing moment outdoors. Hiking Day is a celebration of the best thing we know — stepping out onto the hiking trails.

Join us for a seaweed walk along the shoreline of Vrångö with seaweed diver and food creator Karolina Martinson, or discover Tistlarna, the lighthouse location at the very edge of the archipelago south of Vrångö.

Seaweed walk along the shoreline

Join us for a seaweed walk along the shores of Vrångö with Karolina Martinson. During this two-hour walk, we’ll learn more about the shoreline’s pantry and what lies beneath the water’s surface. Karolina will show you how to sustainably harvest seaweed without disturbing the ecosystems, and you’ll get tips on how to use seaweed and herbs in your cooking. The experience also includes a simple seaweed snack with tasting samples.

Mattias, our own Vrångö skipper and fisherman, will take you on a boat trip from Vrångö Harbor to this exciting place. We’ll take a short hike along the well-trodden paths to the lighthouse, and Mattias will share stories about the old days at the lighthouse station. Book now to secure your spot — there is a maximum of 12 participants. Along the boat ride, we’ll also keep an eye out for seals sunbathing on the skerries around Tistlarna.
