Kajkanten is a small, friendly workplace in the southern archipelago of Gothenburg. We are a small apartment hotel where everyone knows each other. We care about our guests, the environment and making sure that you enjoy working with us too.
Guided walks and kayak tours are also part of our business, for both Swedish and international groups. We are now looking for someone who would like to work part-time as a kayak guide or land guide on Vrångö.
The work involves occasional guided tours in both Swedish and English, making it easy to combine with other commitments. We hope to find someone who enjoys meeting people, loves the outdoors and has a real connection to Vrångö and the archipelago.
We are looking for someone who would like to guide our guests and groups on Vrångö and in the surrounding archipelago. This could involve telling people about the island, nature and life here – but also taking both beginners and more experienced paddlers out on a kayak tour.
You don’t need to know everything. Maybe you’re a great storyteller with extensive local knowledge, or an experienced kayaker who feels confident leading groups on the sea. What matters is that you enjoy meeting people and sharing what you know.
Take groups around Vrångö and tell them about the island, nature, history and life in the archipelago, in both Swedish and English. Perhaps you already have lots of local knowledge – or a particular subject that you are passionate about.
Take groups out on the sea and show them the archipelago from the water. We meet both beginners and more experienced paddlers, so confidence, safety awareness and good kayaking experience are important
You will meet everyone from small private groups to conference guests and international visitors. Helping people feel safe, welcome and curious is an important part of the job.
Guided tours are mainly for booked groups and conferences, making the work easy to combine with other commitments. During the summer, there may be opportunities for around two guided tours per week
You are:
• confident, curious and enjoy sharing what you know
• social and enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world
• comfortable leading groups and creating a safe and positive experience
• responsible and safety-conscious – safety always comes first
• confident speaking both Swedish and English, as our groups include both international and Swedish guests
For land guiding, we would like you to have good local knowledge of Vrångö and the surrounding archipelago. For kayak guiding, you need good kayaking experience and to feel confident leading groups on the sea.
