Experience Vrångö

A few "must-dos" when visiting Vrångö

Here we want to take the opportunity to tell you about all the hidden gems and fun adventures that you can look forward to when visiting Vrångö. Kayak, go exploring in the nature reserve, swim in the salty sea, try the hot tub on the sauna raft, and taste Vrångö’s delicious seafood. If you are traveling in a group, it is also great to book a group/conference activity.

Sauna Raft

On Kajkanten’s sauna raft, you can enjoy sea swimming, a hot tub, and a wood-fired sauna—all surrounded by stunning views of the sea and cliffs. Book the raft for your family or group of friends and indulge in a sauna and a swim, a cherished experience all year round.

The Pilot Lookout

Pilot operations were vital on Vrångö, and the profession was often passed down through generations. In the 1930s, the pilots moved from Vrångö to Vinga, but the small red house at the lookout remains as a reminder and has become a symbol of Vrångö. Climb the stairs and watch the sunset from here—the view is unbeatable.

Plogga - beach clean-up

Beach clean-up is a fun and important activity that everyone visiting us can take part in. It's a great way to give back to the place you're exploring. We provide equipment with Plogga bags and can recommend coves where you'll likely make plenty of interesting finds.

Vrångö’s beaches

Vrångö is known as the best swimming island for Gothenburg locals. There are several beaches and swimming spots to choose from, and if you venture out onto the cliffs beyond the walking paths, you're sure to find your own private cove or rocky ledge.

Go kayaking

From May to October, you can rent a kayak on Vrångö. We provide all the equipment you need for your paddling adventure. We recommend contacting us a day in advance to book, so we can suggest a time when the wind conditions are suitable. Payment is made on-site at the Kajkanten reception.

Hamnkrogen Lotsen

Take a stroll down the pier to Hamnkrogen Lotsen. The restaurant also runs its own fish shop, and the rustic setting of the glass veranda, right in the harbor, offers a truly authentic West Coast experience. Taste Vrångö’s finest seafood – this is something you don’t want to miss!

Hiking paths

On Vrångö, you'll find a total of 8 km of easily accessible hiking trails through the Vrångö Archipelago Nature Reserve: the Southern Hike, the Northern Hike, and the Tärnstigen Trail. You can hike here year-round, with each season offering its own unique beauty.

Outdoor padel

On Vrångö, you'll find two outdoor padel courts. Book your time online and stop by Kajkanten to rent balls and rackets.

Rent a bike

Vrångö is a car-free island, and most people get around by walking since the distances are short. If you want to move faster or bring a bike on the ferry to visit Styrsö or Donsö, you can rent a bike on Vrångö.

Swimming year round

Swimming in the sea all year round is both popular and beneficial. On Vrångö, there are a few swim ladders that remain in place throughout the year. If you book the cold bath package, you'll get access to Kajkanten's sauna raft with a sauna.

HITTA UT on Vrångö

Search for checkpoints on Vrångö with the HITTA UT app. Some of the archipelago’s checkpoints are located on Vrångö, and you can pick up the map you need for the journey at Kajkanten. This activity runs from April to November.
