When H\u00e5kan came down to Kajkanten, a lovely smell of gingerbread and fluffy cats spread. His colleagues, Evelina and Madeleine, had really loaded up to maximize the Christmas spirit! “Rudolf the red-nosed reindeeer” blared from the speakers and H\u00e5kan happily sang along to the lyrics. He could really see before him, how Rudolf flew across the sky with Santa’s sleigh in tow and saved Christmas with his shining mule. He was filled with new hope and a nice feeling of trust. It was clear that Santa existed. Kjell got to say what he wanted, but H\u00e5kan knew better anyway! <\/em><\/p>\n

Evelina came around the corner at Kajkanten with a string of lights in full swing. She had wound it properly in even circles around her arm and when she saw H\u00e5kan she untied it. “No, but, hey, there you were! We were getting worried that you had gone to the North Pole to help Santa or something” She blinked a little with one eye and that made H\u00e5kan very happy! Another one who understood that Santa existed! He quickly replied “Well, I had a little mishap with glitter, and gingerbread and…just my slippers”. Now everything seemed so stupid, and he screwed up a little where he stood. “But now we don’t need to talk about it anymore! Now we set up the string of lights!\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n

H\u00e5kan and Evelina took out the ladder and while H\u00e5kan climbed up, Evelina kept a firm grip on the lower part of the ladder. Then H\u00e5kan climbed up morosely with the string of lights hanging like a shining necklace across his shoulders. When he had gone up ten steps, he happened to look down and trembled. HU, that’s how high it was. Best to look ahead. Together they worked and they had almost made it around the entire Kajkanten when H\u00e5kan saw two of his friends walking from the store. He was about to whistle at them when he heard them talking to each other “Should we do as usual this year, or what do you think Klas?”. “Of course,” answered Klas. “After Donald Duck at some point I’ll be fine. I come to you and you come to me. Put the sack on the usuall place” H\u00e5kan became thoughtful. What were they talking about? For a moment he lost his concentration and suddenly he felt the steps slipping. He felt a scream rising in his throat and he prepared to crash against the balcony. But just as suddenly as the ladder had begun to slide, it stopped. Shaky, but relieved, he turned to thank Evelina for catching him. But she wasn’t there. At the end of the stairs there was instead a pile of gingerbread crumbs and glitter. “Strange” thought H\u00e5kan. “She who is usually so meticulous.” He looked around and got the feeling he was being watched, but saw no one.<\/em><\/p>\n

Behind a roof cupola on Kajkanten, a small figure sat motionless. Now it had been close to the eye, but it was not yet time. The figure stuffed a few gingerbread cookies into his mouth, then pressed a small hoof against his snout. With a small “poof”, he was gone. Only gingerbread crumbs and a small pile of glitter revealed that someone had been there. <\/em><\/p>\n

Yes – now the entire Kajkanten is decorated for Christmas and lovely! After such an adventure, you definitely get hungry, and SOMEONE seems to be sneaking around and eating all the gingerbread cookies. But if you fancy a lovely “julbord” in an archipelago environment, <\/a>we can tell you that Anton and Johanna at Restaurant Ternan are now in the process of fixing this year’s seating!
